Newport Beach, Calif., July 6, 2007 – Toes on the Nose has the perfect gift for everyone – even the President. The international surf apparel company has designed a custom Hawaiian shirt for President George Bush’s 61st Birthday.

When the White House calls, you spring into action! And, that’s exactly what happened. On Monday, June 25th the Senior Gift Officer from the Office of Chief of Protocol for the President of the United States made a telephone call to Toes on the Nose expressing interest in a custom made Hawaiian shirt for President George W. Bush’s July 6th birthday. His staff was looking for a fun, whimsical shirt that would show some of the President’s favorite things while incorporating the Toes on the Nose classic, laid-back surf style.

“It’s not everyday that you get a call from the White House,” said Richard Allred, president of Toes on the Nose. “The first reaction was that this must be some sort of July 4th prank. But when we realized it was for real, we couldn’t imagine a greater honor—designing a shirt for the President of the United States. So Reed Robinson, Toes on the Nose designer, sprung into action and worked 48 straight hours to create this one-of-a-kind shirt. Happy Birthday, Mr. President!”
The men’s short sleeve woven button-up shirt features some of the President’s personal and professional accouterments such as pictures of the Presidential Seal, an Ipod, puzzle pieces, a bookmark, the Yale logo, Camp David, Air Force One, and his beloved dog, Barney. The shirt also includes his initials “G.W.B.” on the right sleeve as well as “President Bush” written below the signature Toes on the Nose label. Custom shirts usually take between two and three months, but not when the request is coming from the White House. Toes on the Nose designed and produced the shirt in just six days. President Bush’s senior advisors presented the shirt to him on Friday, his 61st birthday.
