Pro Longboarder Ashley Lloyd rips on the guitar, in the water, and in a shaping room.

"Recently, i've been driving a lot, making trips up North to Santa Cruz, where i've been recording my next album. It will hopefully be finished around the end of summer.

Recording can be expensive, so for my first CD, 'True to Myself', I tried to make it simple with just me and the guitar, finishing the recording in about 7 hours and only allowing 1 or 2 takes for each song.  Not to say we are doing anything fancy shmancy for this next album, but I'm giving it a little more time because I'd like to have a fuller sound, with Bass, drums, harmony, etc.

My friend Adam Haverstock(Serenata Studios, Santa Cruz) is helping me to record, hence, my journeys al Norte. We do a song or two when he has time.  I'm trying to be patient in completing this CD, but I want it done right now!

I wish I could stay in Santa Cruz to finish it, but I need to work this summer at Malibu (I teach private surf lessons and also train intermediate to advanced surfers into higher levels of surfing). I'm looking forward to moving up to Santa Cruz in the Fall to join the band that I have been forming up there over the last couple of months. There, we can really spend time together and dial in the sound that I'm going for.

Apart from playing in some surf/blues bands with my friend and surf legend Dennis Aaberg, I've mainly played solo.  Having a band to back me up on my own songs is an exciting thing for me, and I'm stoked that I'm finally finding the right people.

Aside from music, I also shape surfboards.  I've been making my own custom shapes for a few years now, and have recently started working with the classic BING surf boards.  You can now order the "Ashley Lloyd Signature Model", which I personally shape under the Bing name.  It cracks me up that I have my own model, and I'm really excited about it.  Bing has a lot of soul, and it is such an honor to be involved with the company.  People tell me that I'm the only female who actually has her own model, which is shaped by herself. I'm just stoked to be able to go down to the Shoreline factory and meet awesome people such as Bing, Hap Jacobs, and Lance Carson, and trip them out, cuz they've never seen anyone shape in a skirt before!

Other than that, I'm stoked on traveling. I went to Mainland Mexico, Australia, and New Zealand this year(where I took 5th in the Noosahead Pro in Australia, and won the Kaikoura longboard Pro in New Zealand). Thanks to my sponsor Toes On The Nose, its the most traveling I've ever done and it has been awesome.  I'm looking forward to more adventures. My other sponsor, Revolution Surf Shop in Camarillo has been trying to keep me busy with surf instruction, to support me in all of these beautiful hobbies that I'm trying to convert into making a living.

I love life, and thank God for all the things we've been given.
