Under the tutelage of his father, Al Perlee, Dane developed his wave riding skills in the empty, chilly waters of the Northwest. In his early teens, he started building surfboards and shortly after moving to Santa Cruz in 1997 to pursue his secondary education, began shaping for Pearson Arrow Surfboards. He enjoys designing and riding all types of watercraft, and his testing ground is his front yard, Pleasure Point. His surf travels include most of Baja, Canada, Western U.S., Hawaii, Costa Rica, Indonesia, and Italy. Dane's future plans include more of the same: surfing, shaping, school, travel, and smiling. He loves the life!
