Paul Steinberg
Paul Steinberg was born blocks from the beach on the Westside of Santa Cruz. Always at the beach and part of a surfing family, Paul learned to ride waves at age six in 1995 and hasn't missed too many days since. A very successful contest surfer, Paul has also done well in paddleboard racing and as a competitive lifeguard.
Paul is a big believer in "ride what makes you happy". In the course of a single day he might body surf, ride one of his Pearson Arrow longboards, get barreled with a lunch tray or surfmat, surf a shortboard, an alaia, glide an 11' or just go for a paddle.
Summer 2009 will be his fourth season of beach lifeguarding for the City of Santa Cruz. During the school year he is a marine biology student at UC Santa Barbara, longboarding for the UCSB surf team . Despite a pretty busy schedule, Paul has managed to go on surf trips to Hawaii, Indonesia and Mainland Mexico. When he isn¹t surfing or at the beach, you can find Paul reading, listening to all kinds of music, making art, or looking for another vintage car to restore.
