Steve Mclean

Steven McLean, 17 year old Cocoa Beach, FL resident, played AAU Level Basketball and on State Cup Soccer teams in his pre-teen years until his Dad, long time amateur surfer, introduced Steven to surfing. “I would ask my Dad to bring the surfboards to the basketball or soccer games on weekends so we could leave right after the games to score some waves. Eventually I told my Dad to forget the game I just want to go surf…hahaha…..and of course he was good with that!”

Being a very competitive athlete in other sports allowed Steven to transition his competitive nature to the sport of surfing. He entered his very first surf competition on his 12th Birthday and by age 15 found himself in the NSSA National Championships; making the finals in both Explorer and Open Longboard events at Salt Creek and Lower Trestles.

In 2010 Steven finished 4th in Jr. Men’s Longboard in the U.S.A. Prime Championships at Lower Trestles and finished in 2nd place with a 14.67 two wave heat total in a highly competitive final event during the NSSA Explorer Championships.

His long term dreams & goals are to travel the World in search of perfect, offshore, dreamy Noseriding waves with friends. Also to Win NSSA National Championships in Open & Explorer Longboard. He also has his sights set on qualifying for the World Longboard Tour and ultimately win the World Title on the Men’s World Longboard Tour.
